2019 Lowell Cemetery Art Exhibition Call for Entries

Show Date: Saturday, September 28, 2109 – Show On Our Cemetery Grounds, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Exhibition Prospectus
All artists, 18 years and older, are invited to submit works for Monuments, Memorials and Memories: Images of the Lowell Cemetery, a juried exhibition at the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, MA. The exhibition will take place on the Cemetery grounds, 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2109. Artists may submit to the jury up to three (3) works for consideration from August 26 – August 30, 2019. Final selection will be limited to one (1).

$1,750 in total cash awards including a $1,000 Best-in-Show will be given at the discretion of the jurors. Note: The Lowell Cemetery retains rights to and ownership of the Best-in-Show work.

All works will be juried from digital images submitted by CD, USB port or email. Entries may be submitted between August 26 – August 30, 2019, Notifications of accepted entries will be sent via email on or about September 12, 2019. Works selected for exhibition must be delivered to the Lowell Cemetery office on Saturday, September 28, 2019. No substitutions are allowed once a work is selected.

Eligible Works
Original works, no larger than 18″ X 24″ and completed within the previous 12 months, are eligible.
Works are limited to those on paper and canvas, e.g., sketches, paintings, photographs, etc. Three-dimensional objects and works containing audio and/or visual elements are not eligible. Themes/subjects must focus on the Lowell Cemetery’s history, monuments, landscape, etc. Artists are welcomed to work on-site and capture changing light and weather in the Cemetery, provided they call or check-in with the office in advance.

How to Enter
All digital images must be submitted to the Lowell Cemetery office, via email: staff@lowellcemetery.com, US Postal , or in person, 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, between August 26 – August 30, 2019. Artists may submit one digital image each for up to three (3) individual works. Each image should be approximately 4” x 6” at 300 dpi JPG files. Each submission must be accompanied by an Exhibition Entry Form.

Preparation of Work
Two-dimensional works must be framed, wired and ready for exhibition.

Three-dimensional pieces must come with a pedestal and/or display mounts provided by the artist.

Delivery and Return of Work
Artists are required to deliver their work (with an easel for display) to the Lowell Cemetery and be present throughout the public exhibition hours, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Cemetery will assign designated exhibition spaces for each artist. The exhibition will conclude at 12:30 p.m. Artists are responsible for removing their work no later than 1:30 p.m.

Submission of an entry is at the artist’s own risk.
