LOCATION
The Lowell Cemetery is located in Lowell, Massachusetts in the Belvedere section of
the city. It is bordered by both historic Fort Hill Park and Shedd Park which are
located on Rogers Street in Lowell. It also borders the Concord river on one side.
The cemetery has two entrances one on Knapp Avenue, off Rogers Street and the other
on Lawrence Street. The Office is located on Knapp Avenue accross the street from the
Belvidere gate.
Directions to the Lawrence Street Gate
(NOTE: TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION DETOUR ON 495 NORTH. If you are traveling on 495 North
exit 37 is closed. Use the directions for the Belvidere Gate below,)
From Route 495 North and South, take exit 37, Woburn Street. If traveling north, turn
left at the stop sign and if traveling south turn right at the stop sign onto Woburn
Street.
Follow Woburn Street to a 4-way stop sign. At the stop sign turn left onto Lawrence
Street. Follow Lawrence Street for approximately one quarter of a mile and pass under
a railroad bridge. Lowell Cemetery is on your right and the gate is approximately 100
yards beyond the railroad bridge.
Directions to the Belvidere Gate
To reach the Belvidere Gate from route 495 North or South, take the exit for Route 38.
At the end of the ramp, turn right from both North and South. Travel straight through
several sets of traffic signals until Shedd Park is on your left hand side. As you
pass by Shedd Park, Knapp Avenue will be your next left, with Lowell Cemetery pillars
on either side of the road. Travel straight up Knapp Avenue to the Belvidere Gate.
Please use caution when crossing McAlvin Avenue at the end of Knapp Avenue, just
before entering the gate to the cemetery.
