Paul E. Tsongas (Feb. 14, 1941 – Feb. 23, 1997)

Former U.S. Senator and congressman from Massachusetts and the late husband of Congresswoman, Niki Tsongas. Senator Tsongas had an illustrious political career. In 1969, he was elected to the Lowell City Council and in1972 to the Middlesex County Commission. In 1974, he was elected to U.S. House of Representatives and in 1978 to the U.S. Senate. In 1992, he was a Democratic candidate for president of the United States.
